Va. medical college to build branch campus in Ala.

AUBURN, Ala - Auburn University officials say a Virginia medical college will build a new facility at the school?s research park area.

Officials announced Thursday that the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Blacksburg, Va., will open a branch campus in the Auburn Research Park in Auburn.

An agreement was signed between the chairman and president of both the medical college and the Auburn Research and Technology Foundation. The medical college will build its new facility featuring classrooms, laboratories and a technology center.

The first class of 150 students is proposed for the fall 2015.

The campus in Auburn will be the medical college?s third. The nonprofit medical college was established in 2003 and affiliated with Virginia Tech, and opened a campus near Wofford College in 2011.
